Sherrod Small is a comedian and was a frequent Red Eye guest. On May 26, 2011, he made his first appearance on the show since February 10, 2009. He made his debut as guest ombudsman on December 19, 2011 and guest hosted for the first time on October 7, 2013. When hosting, he often referred to the show as Black Eye. He once filled in for Bill Schulz as sidekick, as well, on July 19, 2008. He is one of only three people to serve as host, ombudsman and sidekick. (The other two are Andy Levy and Gavin McInnes.) After appearing very frequently since reappearing in 2011, he abruptly ended his tenure on Red Eye in 2015, citing a desire to begin getting paid for his appearances. (Red Eye guests are not paid, other than Fox News contributors, who are salaried by Fox, but not paid per Red Eye appearance.) Since it goes against policy for guests to receive money, Sherrod never appeared on the show again.
Small was a panelist on The Lost Episode, which intended to air March 30, 2012. It was small who perpetuated the moniker of Lost Episode via his twitter account.
